It’s been some time since red orache featured as Leaf of the Week but every week at the site they just get better and better and I wish I hadn’t given them fame quite so early! Really a wonderful feature in the salad beds. I thought I would share this picture with you, just to show you how big and beautiful they have become.

I picked up some seeds from red orache in Ireland and have planted them them in my garden on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada. Any suggestions about soil types. Somewhere it ways that it does well on salt marshes and deserts…..

Our soil is pretty neutral with loads of compost added. Of course we are on good London clay too…What is your soil like?
